Write Angle at The Studio at TPS
Write Angle promises an exciting evening of performance poetry, comedy and music in their Cabaret of Stars at The Studio @TPS on Tuesday 29 September. The performers are:
Attila the Stockbroker
Internationally renowned, he is 'a sharp-tongued, high energy, social realist rebel poet and songwriter', with words hard-hitting, and politics unashamedly radical. He will make you roar with laughter and seethe with anger. Earning a living as a poet since 1982, Attila's performed in 23 countries, released 17 music/poetry albums in 5 countries and 5 books of poems. He plays to sell-out houses and he's a 'dynamo' not to be missed!
Philip Jeays
Phil will appear with his orchestra. He's had five albums released : “He “doesn’t just sing - he acts them out. Tatler”. “...best songwriter in the country.” “Shades of Jacques Brel and David Bowie” – “the sort of discovery you're always hoping to make - rarely do." (Ian McMillan) “..songwriter with unique jaundiced line.” (Guardian) “... darkly comic songs, with Sondheimesque tongue-twisting lyrics, projecting him to semi-cult status.” (Evening Standard) “.. delivered with frightening intensity." (Goldimine(USA) “... vulnerable, vitriolic and cruelly observant..." Herald (Glasgow) “...unique on the contemporary British music scene." Morning Star”.
Audi Maserati
Write Angle's Poet in Residence, author of poetry and short story books, has performed in the West Country; then London, where ' Apples & Snakes', largest poetry org, gave him gigs all over England, mostly London.. Audi's now where he rightfully belongs – the stage. He plays guitar, uses real and 'invented sound instruments' as well as singing and comedy. He is experimental, unpredictable and amazing! Audi's been doing gigs, including Cornwall, Portsmouth, Petersfield, Havant and Southhampton. He's already built up a fan club who will follow him anywhere!
Rhian Edwards
This Welsh Londoner, has done stage and radio performances. Her first pamphlet 'Parade the Fib' published by tall-Lighthouse, was selected by Poetry Book Society as their pamphlet choice in '08. Critics say, “Outstanding performances that get you” ...The unique voice lies in the music of the language, ...with unexpected leaps of the imagination. Against a Celtic bass-line, she sets her own modern turn of phrase and sense of humour.” (Hugo Williams).
Sophia Blackwell
Author, cabaret vamp, burlesque 'wannabe', Sophie is an eclectic word-flinger. She loves poems, scary blazing rants against oppression/ hypocrisy, and meditative rambles about dancing shoes, tomatoes, reality TV and killing your potted herbs. She's appeared in festivals, cabarets, on radio and TV. “If Amy Winehouse wrote poetry, she might sound like this...her work has emotional depth as well as immediate impact.” DIVA Magazine. “Sophistication incarnate – an artist who combines humour and original social commentary with stunning visual performance” Steve Larkin; “magnificent…strident, beautiful, crusading...a vamp radiating passion.” A.F. Harrold.
The evening starts at 7pm for 7.30. Cost: £8 (£5 concesssions). Book now 01730 234641. Email: Studio@thepetersfieldschool.com
